About Me...
MATT BROOKS|MUSICAL DIRECTOR/SESSION MUSICIAN

From as early as he can remember, drums have been at the heart of Matt Brooks' musical journey. With nothing more than chopsticks, pots, and pans, he found his first outlet for rhythm—until the age of 11, when a drum kit at his local church changed everything. With that said, it was after watching a VHS of Fred Hammond & Radical For Christ - 'Pages Of Life Chapters I & II' and discovering the deep pocket and musicality of Marvin McQuitty Jr. (who later became a mentor to Matt) where things got serious and what was once a flickering flame became a burning passion for the drums. The rest, as they say, is history.
While studying at university, he received a breakthrough opportunity to tour internationally with Austrian-based band 4Real. Two years on the road not only sharpened his performance skills but also opened doors to leading clinics and workshops for musicians across Europe.
After a brief step away from professional drumming, 2013 marked a turning point. A call to dep for Raleigh Ritchie reignited his passion and set him firmly back on the path. Since then, he has built a diverse and dynamic career as a Drummer, Musical Director, and Programmer, working across genres and performing on stages around the UK and worldwide.
Known for his feel, musicality, and adaptability, he is often described as a “pocket” drummer with an authentic approach to multiple styles. In his own words, his playing is “dynamic, expressive, and energetic”—a combination that continues to define his sound.
His performance credits include Nicole Scherzinger, Meghan Trainor, Chlöe Howl, Nina Nesbitt, Conor Maynard, Julian Perretta, and Amber Olivier, among others.
He is currently touring globally with RAYE, following her historic six BRIT Awards in a single night. As a key part of her live and creative team, he has contributed to many career-defining moments over recent years, performing across major international TV appearances, festivals, and headline shows. He also features on the drums for her sophomore album 'This Music May Contain Hope,' to which he contributed as a songwriter—further showcasing his versatility as both a performer and creator.
